EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MESSAGE

The winter is fast approaching and our busy program season is now behind us.  We have had an extremely exciting year filled with changes and challenges, opportunities and advantages.  We’ve also had time to look back on a year of great growth and change.

I’ve discovered that as I grow older I become much more introspective and do spend time evaluating my life lived. I suppose I am my most reflective when I am able to enjoy time at my cottage and can reflect on my many blessings.  A great organization to work for, a loving husband, wonderful family, supportive friends, healthy and caring children and living in a country where it is a right to be considered equal. To have the opportunity to live where no one, regardless of ability, should be discriminated against.  It is at times like this that my thoughts turn to my work at REACH and our success over the past 30 years and our ability to grow and change.

At REACH, we have spent the last three decades leading the charge on training and delivery of inclusive recreation programs for children and youth with disabilities.  We have also worked tirelessly to advocate for the removal of the stigma and barriers associated with having a disability. We have connected thousands of families to inclusive programs and our expertise continues to grow as we focus on skillful navigation, advanced training and thorough education opportunities for those working with children who live with physical and developmental disabilities.  Whether you are looking for an inclusive program, or you are considering developing one or you are training to better support one, REACH is with you every step of the way. We take great lengths to ensure a safe, personalized and fun inclusive experience for all our participants.

It is through the work of our dedicated and knowledgeable team and our skilled program delivery partners that the fundamental belief that, the joy in belonging and every child having the right to belong, is realized.  With our focus presently in Ontario, we are working tirelessly to expand across the entire province with the hopes that one day in the not too distant future we will realize a singular vision. A vision that Canada will be an “inclusion nation” to all people.  Moreover, we truly believe this vision is within our grasp.

I hope you will take time visiting our website and exploring all that is available to you. Please visit often, sign up for a program, take one of our inclusion training sessions, maybe volunteer at an event or become a donor.  We welcome all.

Yours in inclusion,

Dawn MacDonald
