SUPPORT FOR
FAMILIES

Our REACH families are so important to us. From your first phone call or email to hearing about your child’s experience at the end of the program – we are your support every step of the way. Whether you’re contacting us for the first time or coming back for another great program, we’re here to help. There’s always time for a good conversation or a cup of coffee if you’d like to drop by. We are an extension of your community and we want you to know that you are not alone.

Here’s how we work with NEW FAMILIES:

  • Because there are spots reserved for REACH in each program, your sessions must be confirmed by REACH before your child’s registration forms are provided to the program of your choice
  • A REACH Coordinator will arrange a one-to-one meeting with your family to determine your child’s unique abilities and needs
  • Your child’s personalized profile is developed using information provided by family, school, therapists, previous REACH records, and/or other professionals
  • Liaising with the program team, we use this profile to develop strategies for care and inclusion
  • We coordinate and train your 1:1 support counsellor as well as each program team
  • Along with providing 24/7 support to our program partners we also conduct ongoing site visits
  • Accessible transportation and the loan of special adaptive equipment may be provided

Here’s how REACH works for RETURNING FAMILIES:

  • Because there are spots reserved for REACH in each program, your sessions must be confirmed by REACH before your child’s registration is provided to the program of your choice
  • REACH must ensure that a 1:1 support counsellor is available for all participants
  • Program registration forms must be submitted each year as sessions and requirements may change
  • Once your spot is reserved through REACH, our coordinator will guide you in registering for the program with the appropriate program partner
  • Liaising with the program team, we share your child’s personalized profile with them
  • We coordinate and train your 1:1 support counsellor as well as each program team
  • Along with providing 24/7 support to our program partners, we also conduct ongoing site visits
  • Accessible transportation and the loan of special adaptive equipment may be provided

“The hardest part of having a child with physical and developmental disabilities is figuring out where to get support. With REACH, it’s been really nice to not have to worry. I want parents to know that as their child goes to camp for the first time, they’ll be safe and cared for.” – Sue, REACH Parent

HOW TO REGISTER:

Each year, REACH reserves a set number of spaces at program delivery partners’ locations across Ontario for children and youth who require 1:1 support in order to participate in recreational programming and/or attend camp.  There are 2 steps to the REACH registration process:

  1. For both new and returning participants, it is necessary that REACH be contacted prior to registering for programs at our partners’ locations.  A REACH Program Coordinator will then help guide you through the program selection process. Following this, your space will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Once the participant’s space is reserved and confirmed at a partner location through REACH, the next step is to register with the program delivery partner and to pay all related fees.

We’ll support you through every step and look forward to hearing from you!
